The Washington Wild Things (20-13) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 3-1 to the Normal CornBelters (15-16) on Sunday.
While the Washington Wild Things led until the sixth inning, the Normal CornBelters worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run triple by Mike Schwartz.
Schwartz racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the first and fourth innings and tripled in the sixth inning.
Corey MacDonald picked up the win for the Normal CornBelters. MacDonald allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings of work.
Chris Phelan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
