A walk-off from Tre-von Johnson brought home the winning run for the Joliet Slammers (2-0) in a 3-2 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners at Silver Cross Field on Saturday.
The Joliet Slammers were led by Adam Giacalone's hitting. Giacalone went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second inning.
Blair Walters pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and one walk while striking out five.
Jordan McCoy got the win, running his season record to 1-0. McCoy struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.
Stew Brase (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
