Both the Windy City ThunderBolts (9-16) and the Schaumburg Boomers (14-11) put runners aboard on Thursday, but it was the Windy City ThunderBolts that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 2-1 win at Standard Bank Stadium.

The fact that the Windy City ThunderBolts grouped all of their runs into the third inning helped them take advantage of their hits.

The Windy City ThunderBolts held off the Schaumburg Boomers, as the Schaumburg Boomers were unable to overcome a two-run third inning deficit.

The Schaumburg Boomers scored one run in the fourth on a solo home run by Steve McQuail. Despite their efforts, the Schaumburg Boomers couldn't get over the hump.

Travis Strong kept contact to a minimum, striking out five the Schaumburg Boomers batters. Strong allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over six innings.

Danny Jimenez (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
