Early lead not enough for the Amarillo Sox, drop 2-1 decision to the Winnipeg Goldeyes

The Amarillo Sox (3-4) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 2-1 to the Winnipeg Goldeyes (6-0) on Wednesday.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes took the lead in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Fehlandt Lentini.

Nick Liles paced the Winnipeg Goldeyes at the plate. Liles went 3-4 and drove in one. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes relied on Matthew Rusch to eat up innings en route to the win. Rusch allowed no earned runs, three hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings of work.

KC Serna had a hot bat for the Amarillo Sox. Serna went 2-4 and scored one run. He tripled in the first inning.

John Holdzkom (0-1) took the loss for the Amarillo Sox. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
