The Amarillo Sox (3-0) jumped out to an early lead on the El Paso Diablos (0-3) and captured a 14-4 victory on Saturday at Cohen Stadium.

With eight runs in the first three innings, the Amarillo Sox left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A double by Chris Grossman and a sacrifice fly by Chris Valencia in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Joe Anthonsen and a single by Joe Weik during the second inning fueled the Amarillo Sox's offense early.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to three lead changes in the game.

The Amarillo Sox took the lead in the second inning and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Anthonsen scored Trey Ford and KC Serna and gave the Amarillo Sox the lead for good.

David Peralta racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Amarillo Sox. He doubled in the third and seventh innings and singled in the ninth inning.

Jason Mitchell put together a nice outing. The El Paso Diablos managed just one hit off of the the Amarillo Sox's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Jason Hirsh recorded his first win of the year for the Amarillo Sox. He allowed three runs over four innings. Hirsh struck out three, walked none and gave up four hits.

Matt Schimpf (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out none.
