Both the Frontier Greys (26-39) and the Traverse City Beach Bums (39-26) put runners aboard on Thursday, but it was the Frontier Greys that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 9-5 win at Wuerfel Park.
Mark Micowski put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Frontier Greys. He homered in the second inning, singled in the seventh inning, and doubled in the ninth inning.
The Traverse City Beach Bums were led by a flawless day at the dish by Zach Kometani, who went 4-4 against the Frontier Greys' pitching. He singled in the third and fifth innings and doubled in the first and ninth innings.
Joe Zeller got the win, running his season record to 7-6. He allowed two runs over six innings. Zeller struck out four, walked three and gave up eight hits.
Jacob Clem couldn't get it done on the mound for the Traverse City Beach Bums, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.
The Frontier Greys' Esteban Meletiche, Brock McCallister, JJ Muse and Micowski combined for eight hits and eight RBIs.
