A magnificent effort by Dave Middendorf lifted the Lake Erie Crushers (35-30) to a 5-0 win over the Washington Wild Things (30-35) on Thursday at All Pro Freight Stadium.
The Lake Erie Crushers' Middendorf kept the Washington Wild Things off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up four.
Shawn Blackwell (3-6) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
