A magnificent effort by Jon Myers led the Gateway Grizzlies (21-10) to a 9-5 win over the Joliet Slammers (12-20) on Saturday at Silver Cross Field.

Myers rocked the Joliet Slammers with two home runs. Myers went 3-5 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Myers homered in the second and fourth innings.

The Joliet Slammers couldn't get anything going so long as Brett Higginbotham was on the hill. The Joliet Slammers managed just three hits off of Higginbotham, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his five innings of work.

Marquis Riley reached base three times. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Evan Anundsen couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Joliet Slammers, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
