The Normal CornBelters (18-13) beat the Traverse City Beach Bums (19-12) 9-4 on Friday at The Corn Crib behind Mike Schwartz, who went 2-3 and hit a home run.

The Traverse City Beach Bums had no answer for Tyler Lavigne, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Traverse City Beach Bums managed just two hits off of Lavigne, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out two during his seven innings of work.

A bright spot for the Traverse City Beach Bums in the defeat was Kyle Teague, who allowed only two runs while striking out seven.

Sean Gusrang was hot from the plate for the Traverse City Beach Bums. Gusrang went 3-4. He singled in the sixth and eighth innings and doubled in the ninth inning.

Jake Sabol (5-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.
