Early lead gives the Joliet Slammers easy victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts, 8-1

The Joliet Slammers (7-9) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Windy City ThunderBolts (4-13), recording an 8-1 victory on Tuesday at Silver Cross Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Joliet Slammers exerted their will early with eight runs in the first three innings.

A two-run triple by Grant DeBruin and an error in the first inning and an RBI triple by Marquis Riley, an RBI double by Nate Wilder, and a two-run double by Michael Wing during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Joliet Slammers.

Riley had two extra-base hits for the Joliet Slammers.

Mike Barsotti pitched lights out for the Joliet Slammers. Barsotti held the Windy City ThunderBolts hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Dyllon Nuernberg was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight the Joliet Slammers batters and allowing one run.

Evan Anundsen improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed one run over six innings. Anundsen struck out three, walked four and gave up five hits.

Matt Wickswat couldn't get it done on the hill for the Windy City ThunderBolts, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out none.

The Joliet Slammers' DeBruin, Wilder and Riley combined for five hits and five RBIs.
