The Rockford Aviators (1-2) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Frontier Greys (2-1), and the Rockford Aviators lost 6-5 to the Frontier Greys after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning.
The Rockford Aviators scored on and a passed ball in the sixth inning, an RBI single by Alvaro Ramirez in the seventh inning, and a two-run single by Evan Button in the ninth inning. Still, the Rockford Aviators couldn't catch the Frontier Greys.
Mark Micowski was solid at the plate for the Frontier Greys. Micowski went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Joe Zeller pitched lights out for the Frontier Greys. The Rockford Aviators managed just one hit off of Zeller, who allowed two earned runs, walked three and struck out two during his 5 2/3 innings of work.
Jon Gulbransen was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Frontier Greys batters and allowing three runs.
Gulbransen was charged with his first loss of the year.
