A magnificent effort by Jose Vargas carried the Traverse City Beach Bums (41-23) to a 15-2 win in seven innings over the Road Warriors (1-3) on Sunday at Wuerfel Park.

Vargas racked up six RBIs on four hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He doubled in the second and fourth innings and homered in the fifth and sixth innings.

Nine runs in the opening three innings allowed the Traverse City Beach Bums to easily put away the Road Warriors. A two-run single by Chase Burch, a two-run single by Burch, and an RBI single by Kyle Colligan in the first inning and a three-run double by Vargas and an RBI single by Burch during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Traverse City Beach Bums.

The Road Warriors couldn't get anything going as long as Brooks Belter was pitching. The Road Warriors managed just one hit off of Belter, who allowed two earned runs, walked six and struck out two during his seven innings of work.

Greg Hendrix (0-1) took the loss for the Road Warriors. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked two and struck out two.
