Pointstreak.com's New Program Could Revolutionize Timekeeping

This new service (in final stages of development) will revolutionize how hockey timekeepers perform their duties in rinks across the country. The concept replaces the traditional paper gamesheet with an electronic version inputted on a specialized rinkside computer.

Pointstreak.com wants to sell its database service to hockey leagues nationwide. Game statistics are collected in real time, with statistics available on demand on the Web. This includes not only game results, league standings, player scoring, but penalties as well.

A subtle but interesting benefit is tracking penalties, severity thereof, and resulting suspensions. The system is in trial use at UBC, and has purportedly reduced penalties in a men's league because of its penalty tracking features.

Pointstreak.com founder Aaron Bishop grew up in Thunder Bay and was a competitive cycler in his youth. During his visit here over the Christmas break he was happy to offer Thunder Bay an advance introduction of a service that has had significant interest from the CHA. This one is worth investing in.
